The greatness of Islam, the blessed religion!

The world today is amazed by the rise of Islam as the fastest growing religion in the world, as has been recorded in the book "World Guinness Book 2005” that Islam is "The fastest growing religion in the world".

The reason is that Islam is a truly exceptional faith and full of blessings, whether regarding the increasing number of its followers or its benefits in the lives of humankind!

Blessing means bounty! It can also be defined as the endless outpouring of goodness. This means increasing comfort, prosperity, sustenance, health, etc. What is most important is seeking Allah’s pleasure ﷻ.

Thus, the meaning of the word “blessing” from the Arabic term “baraka”, is increasing goodness. So, if you explore and study the teachings of Islam, you will be amazed to discover that all its teachings are for the pleasure and happiness of humankind in this world and the Hereafter!

Observe the akhlaq of the Prophet ﷺ; you will discover how the teachings of Islam had moulded him into one possessing the noblest of human traits. Likewise, his Sahabah too attained success and happiness despite having to go to war to fight in the cause of Allah; some were even poor and earned less than the average daily wage!

Even so, they remained happy with what Allah ﷻ had provided them! Subhaanallah!

We too would like to experience such blissful acceptance and learn how they became successful and managed to conquer the world. The same holds true for the subsequent generations who had followed in their footsteps.

What is the secret behind the successful Muslims of the past who had carried the torch of knowledge and development for all people?

It is, of course, in the teachings of this holy religion. Therein lies the secrets, which had motivated them to be bold, progressive, and fulfilled in any situation whatsoever!

But sadly, when Muslims began to ignore the teachings of their religion, disunity, backwardness, and poverty started to befall them. As a result, Muslims today are left far behind concerning economy and technology, even though their numbers and their natural resources are in abundance. Why is that?

In this book, we shall try to identify the practises and teachings of Islam that had led the Muslim ummah to become successful and progressive. Similarly, we shall also identify things that we should be mindful of to prevent any untoward incidents or calamities.

Through the strength of its religious teachings, many people from around the world, including the Malay community 1 , converted to Islam. Most of those who converted did so on the strength of their conviction about the truth of its teachings, and not due to coercion or bribery as happened with other religions!

The religion has caused many to wonder the source of such power, and that even though it is newer than the other religions; it has become the fastest growing religion in the world today, despite being ridiculed and accused of baseless allegations!

So, wherein lies the power inherent in the Islamic teachings?

This miracle is what we need to study and learn. All these indicate that the religion has countless benefits and secrets that we need to discover to obtain answers to life’s questions. We can then try to use the answers to regain our past glory.

May the discussions in this book be rewarded by Allah, and that our efforts to regain the past achievements and glory of the Muslim ummah meet with success!

MUHAMMAD The Pearly Luminescence

Love for the Prophet ﷺ is commanded by the Sharī'ah. Knowing the Prophet ﷺ, praising and reciting salawat unto him is Allah's demand from His servants. As the saying goes, in a well-known Malay proverb: "Not knowing is, hence, not loving."

Many Ulama' have composed thousands of books and poetry on the life and virtues of this Great Prophet ﷺ to introduce him to the Muslim ummah and people in general; such was the author of this great poem, Raja 'Ali Haji رحمة الله, who took the initiative to compose a summary of Imam Al-Barzanji's works when the Malay-Riau community was encultured in its recitation. The author's sincere efforts in bringing the Malay community (now, to the international community, with the transposition by Gene Šha Rudyn) to know the Prophet ﷺ received apparent acceptance and abundant blessings, one of the signs of which is that this Great Poem remains intact to this day.

We provided endnotes to explain some of the allusive meanings of the poem, which may otherwise be difficult to understand, and also to define, support, and reference the narrations expressed by the author in the poem. To add more value to this already valuable book, we have selected and translated the words of Ašh-Šhaykh Kiayi Muḥammad Idrus Ramli رحمة الله of East Java, Indonesia, in a special bonus content where he engaged in a dialogue with an anti-Mawlid Salafi Wahhabi Muslim on the commemoration of the Mawlidun Nabi tradition in Ahl As-Sunnah Wal Jama'ah.

I recently had the pleasure of reading a beautifully translated poem that narrates the Siirah of Prophet Muḥammad (peace be upon him) by Raja 'Ali Haji, translated by Gene Šha Rudyn. The rhyming scheme was masterfully done, adding a rhythmic flow that made the reading experience both enjoyable and engaging. The poem was a delightful read and a concise and fun way to learn about the significant events in the life of the Prophet. It's a wonderful blend of history and poetry that I highly recommend to anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the Siirah in a new format.
